Deal – when to seek a publishing deal and on what terms
A music publishing deal is not to be entered into prematurely
and without proper consideration as to do so could have an adverse
affect on your financial returns.
The timing on entering into a publishing deal and the evident
success of the campaign will determine the terms and monetary
value of the deal. Securing a good publishing deal is unlike
a record deal because sourcing out the right publishers from
the outset and keeping them informed and up to date with the
campaign progress is not necessary. Negotiations with music
publishers need not take place until such times when the campaign
is building momentum or at its peak.
